Job summary
The Jenny Lind Children's Hospital at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is nestled on the outskirts of the vibrant city of Norwich. A city brimming with art and culture, restaurants, nightlife and boosts a top UK university.
We are a brand new stand alone Paediatric Theatre Complex, comprising of 2 elective theatres and a 6 bay PACU (Post anaesthetic care unit) area.
The Divisions of Surgery and Women and Children will be integrated. Developing a service, workforce and strategy that supports and embeds the Trust's Children's Strategy
Modernising our workforce, we will provide CPD packages for all staff with clear progression pathways. The Trust supports a paediatric competency package, providing knowledge and skills training and evidence of all staff's competencies within the speciality of paediatrics, ensuring Trust's standards are upheld throughout all departments. Main duties of the job
Moving patients between wards, Theatres and Recovery departments
Assisting in the care of the surgical patient during the peri-operative period by supporting the multidisciplinary team.
- Supporting the Theatre personnel in providing a safe, high quality environment for the carrying out of surgical procedures by:
- Assisting The Clinical Practitioners with procedures
- Providing basic patient care.
- Providing a safe environment ensuring the highest quality of patient care is provided
- Prepare and set up theatre prior to theatre list.
- General circulating duties as instructed/requested from qualified members of theatre team.
- Assist the safe transit of the patient to and from the ward and between areas within day theatres, before and after surgery, and to ensure safety of any equipment that is attached to the patient.
- Provide a knowledgeable and safe assistance with the transfer of the anaesthetised patient from the patient's trolley to the operating table using the hospital policy for manual handling of patients.
- Assist with the positioning of the patient for a surgical procedure.
- Undertake pressure area care using pressure relieving practices and devices as advised by registered staff.
Ensure all documentation is recorded accurately, legibly signed and dated in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and countersigned by registered staff as appropriate.
