Job summary
We are seeking a senior physiotherapist with extensive and highly specialist knowledge and skills to join our musculoskeletal outpatient team to take a lead role in managing our therapy led trauma pathways.
This new post has been developed with the support of both the Physiotherapy and Trauma and Orthopaedic services, in order to enhance therapy led trauma pathway delivery in the acute Trust.
You will lead on development, performance and governance of these pathways with support from the Orthopaedic Consultant clinical lead and Physiotherapy Service Lead.
As a member of our team it is expected that all staff participate in 7-day working and bank holiday provision as dictated by service needs. For this post, 7-day working may include delivery of care on the Orthopaedic wards or provision of outpatient clinics if running. There is no requirement for the post holder to participate in the physiotherapy respiratory on-call service.

This is post is primarily Bd8a but we will consider Band 7 to Band 8a progression. Criteria and time frame will be determined after interview, based on gaps identified.

Main duties of the job
Physiotherapy advanced practitioner working autonomously to triage, assess and manage a highly complex caseload of patients presenting with a broad spectrum of disorders and disabilities within the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust and outreaching to spoke units as required.
- To undertake an individual caseload of patients in this highly specialist role, relying on expert clinical judgement and using advanced analytical skills, to determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated. Patients will present with a range of highly complex conditions.
- To ensure a high standard of care for each patient working with all disciplines and agencies involved in an appropriate manner. This will involve sharing complex and highly sensitive information regarding diagnosis and outcomes and overcoming barriers to communication.
- To be responsible for highly specialised clinical teaching - to include both in service education of band 7 members of the physiotherapy team within NNUH, across the region, and to other medical, nursing and AHP's.
- To actively participate in research, clinical evaluation, audit and quality improvements within the specialty
- To actively lead both practice and service development and design, within own specialist clinical field.
