Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity until 31st March 2025

We are looking for an ambitious, patient focused people with a passion for care to work as a Healthcare Assistant! This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of Specialist Nurses and Health Care Assistants within the Urology Directorate at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn.

As a Band 3 Health Care Assistant you will be working alongside Specialist Nurses, and all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

You will have the chance to expand your knowledge and skills in this field of Nursing with the opportunity to attend virtual and classroom-based training courses.

You will be well supported by the existing team within Urology to take up this new challenge with a focus on patient pathways and cancer.

Full time: 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

To provide and monitor a safe, person-centred care to a designated group of patients, service users and families in a range of care settings under the direction of the specialist nurses, without direct supervision in line with an agreed plan of care.

To support the Specialist Nurses by contributing to delivery of care for this group of patients

To promote health and prevent ill health in patients and service users and contribute to integrated care.

To assist in the monitoring of conditions and health needs of patients on a continual basis in partnership with colleagues, families and carers, referring to others for reassessment.

To work under supervision of the Urology Specialist Nurses partaking in clinics on the unit as directed.

  • To accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the Registered Nurse who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care
  • To carry out duties as specified in within the Trusts Approved Core Task List for Nursing Assistants.
  • To report to a Registered Nurse any patient that gives cause for concern or any observed changes in a patients clinical condition.
  • To report all care that has been given to patients within the team to a Registered Nurse.
  • To accurately document all care delivered to patients, countersigned by a Registered Nurse, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • To respond appropriately to clinical emergencies, to ensure the patient receives appropriate care and to be aware of role in emergency situations.
  • To be aware of and adhere to all Trust policies / procedures / nursing guidelines when undertaking any activities.
  • To make patients welcome to the clinical area and participate in the admission process under the supervision of registered staff, should a patient need to be transferred to the NNUH.
  • Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal nursing care, if required, in accordance with essence of care standards.
