Job summary

The Imaging Department consists of sites at both NNUH and Cromer Hospital, along with the NNUH Community Diagnostic Centre planned to open in February 2025.The NNUH is recognised nationally and internationally for the quality and range of services provided and the Radiology Department is QSI accredited.

The Radiology PACS team are looking for flexible and motivated people to join our team.

We are looking for people that are passionate about providing an exemplary service, to work as part of a dynamic team helping to a deliver a safe and effective Radiology service at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

The successful candidate will be able to work in a systemic and methodical way, using on their own initiative, be conscientious, and have excellent interpersonal communication and customer care skills. Applicants will have a keen eye for detail, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize workload.

The PACS team at NNUH provides Radiology IT support to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, Cromer Hospital, Breast Screening Services at the Norwich Community Hospital and the Radiology Academy. Despite being a small team, we process in excess of 2 million images per week on the PACS system, and provide specialist IT support to Radiology

System users across all sites. The team at NNUH not only provides services to clinical colleagues, but also supports local research teams along with other projects.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialist support service to all individuals or departments, both internal and external, who require images and information from the Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS). To work with all members of the team within the multi-disciplinary framework. To contribute to the provision of a high standard of care for patients.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

Day to day administration of hospital PACS system, including correcting and tidying anomalous studies, merging patients / studies and any other administrative functions.

Provide first line system and application support for all users of the systems - supporting all levels of users in all applications.

Create new requests and transfers on hospital image transfer system (IEP) and respond to outstanding requests and transfers in a timely fashion.

Prepare image CD's / DVD's for Medico Legal, Clinical, Research and patient requests as required and in line with current trust protocols and anonymising data where appropriate.

All in-house training is provided.

The part-time hours are flexible days of the working week between 8 am and 6 pm. The office core hours are between 9 am and 5 pm.
