Job summary

The Eastern Pathology Alliance is formed from three Pathology Laboratories based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), the James Paget University Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn.

The Laboratory at NNUH provides a large range of Blood Sciences services comprising Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Transfusion, Immunology and Toxicology. The service provides test results reports to support the Acute Trust and Primary Care Trusts requirements.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Practitioner Healthcare Scientist within our pathology information technology team. Full training will be given in all aspects of the role. This post will be offered as 37.5 hours per week as a fixed-term 12-month contract. You will be joining us at an exciting time where your duties will be to help us manage an upgrade of our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that support haematology and clinical chemistry laboratories at NNUH by participating as part of our team, maintaining our service provision.

The post will be based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, and work within the pathology IT team. Knowledge and interest in pathology IT systems, LIMS/ middleware and order-comms would be desirable

Main duties of the job

As post holder, following training you will:

  • Ensure patient confidentiality and conformance to GDPR and Caldecott Guidelines is maintained at all times.
  • Develop skills and be able to use Laboratory information system, Internet and E-mail, and automation operating systems, and other software packages as required.
  • To request and input patient demographics and request into the laboratory information systems.
  • Work within the Pathology IT team under the supervision of the Pathology IT lead
