The Business Intelligence team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is here to make a real impact in healthcare through data. As a member of our team, you'll be joining a close-knit group of 25 information analysts, officers, and developers dedicated to providing valuable insights and analytics.

Main duties of the job

As a Higher Information Analyst you will use business intelligence tools, including SQL, SSRS and Power BI to extract and automate large data sets from a number of different sources. The role will focus on aiding the data needs of the Trust's elective recovery programme, making sure patients are prioritised according to their clinical needs and that no patients are left behind. By adding value to the raw data you will be helping to empower the workforce by putting the right information in front of the right people, at the right time. The post holder will also supervise a team of Information Analysts and Officers, managing workloads across the team and supporting their development.

  • Extraction and interrogation of data from multiple data sources using Business Intelligence software including, but not limited to SQL, SSRS, Microsoft Excel and PowerBI.
  • Support Trust decision making through discussion and interpretation of information requests, data extraction, and the processing and production of reports which may be complex, business critical and/or confidential.
  • Assist in the management of budgets allocated to the department and/or delegated budget for projects and ongoing maintenance of systems. Assist in the development of business cases by providing reporting and analysis and negotiations with external companies.
  • Provide analysis and modelling for long term business planning up to 36 months ahead and performance and trust change management projects.
  • Based on customer consultation design functional specifications. Using creative and problem-solving skills, support the changing information requirements of the trust through the design, development, and creation of develop bespoke Excel and PowerBI reports and dashboards.
  • Interpret information, highlighting trends and inconsistencies and undertake ad hoc data analysis to investigate any issues highlighted and provide supporting information or suggestions on how to resolve the issues or increase productivity. Identify and review risks associated with changes in services and systems.
  • Be Responsible for the development, production, and delivery of a number of performance and business change projects.
  • Carry out analysis of data to produce and disseminate accurate and easy to use analytical reports that are fit for purpose, and which are presented in the most suitable format to all relevant parties, including outside organisations.
  • Provide supporting data for the Trust which may subsequently be involved in service development. Postholder would be required to propose changes to services identify gaps in capacity and demands for services or areas and comply with Information Governance and Caldecott principles.
