Job summary
We are recruiting a Clinical Lead Dietitian to our chronic conditions team, to support our paediatric patients in our Complications from Excess Weight (CEW) service.
As one of the few centres providing this service across England you will have the opportunity to develop this role, through research, quality improvement and networking with other Dietitians in services across England.
This post will work as part of the CEW MDT which includes Dietitian, Nursing, Psychology, Social worker, family support worker, physiotherapy and Doctors. You will also be part of the wider Dietetic department which has ~40 Dietitians and 8 support staff. Our department covers adults & paeds across a variety of specialties and we utilise all skills across the department to support each other both clinically and professionally.

Main duties of the job
When you first arrive with us you will have a 4 week induction period where you will have the opportunity to experience the team, department and hospital before starting to undertake your job plan.
On an ongoing basis your responsibilities will include:
- Day to day patient care
- Prioritisation and organisation of caseloads
- Research development - this will be fundamental to this role
- Audit, quality improvement and outcome measurement as service lead for paediatric obesity
- National and regional meetings and networking
- CPD activities
- Mentoring and supervising junior Dietitians, Dietetic assistants and Practitioners, Apprentices and students
- Involvement or leading projects to support improvement
- Active involvement in team meetings and discussions
You will be encouraged and supported in your CPD, and as you progress in the role we'll want you to share your knowledge with the wider department, helping to inform and develop departmental policies where required.

- To be responsible for providing training and education in the area of clinical speciality to other dietitians and healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- To provide advanced nutritional and dietetic advice in specialist area to medical, health care professionals and other agencies.
- To assess plan and implement complex treatment programmes and monitor patients in a variety of settings, offering therapeutic dietary advice and education, to address patients complex and changing needs.
