Consultant - Rheumatology department

This a replacement, full time consultant appointment in response to a colleague returning to their country of origin. The successful applicant would join a team of 10 consultants.

We are looking for a colleague with an interest in connective tissue diseases. Our department currently has internationally reputed services in axial spondyloarthritis and primary systemic vasculitis. We would also welcome interests in other disease areas including transitional and adolescent rheumatology.

A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Main duties of the job

This is a 10 PA post which includes 8.5 DCC and 1.5 SPA

Outpatient clinics - 3 general rheumatology (typically 3 New and 9 follow-up); 1 specialist clinic (typically 3 New and 6 follow-up)

MDT - With radiology every week, Advanced therapies MDT in the department every week

Rheumatology On-call 1:6 (category B: expected within 2 hours) during which the appointee will also be expected to vet out-patient referrals, address advice and guidance queries from GPs, covering the rheumatology day unit queries and supporting the on-call rheumatology registrar.

Attendance is expected at quarterly regional meetings of the East Anglia Rheumatology Society (EARS) and the Eastern Network for Rare Autoimmune Diseases (ENRAD).
