The Voluntary Services teams at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital work with hundreds of amazing people who generously gift their time to support our staff, our patients, and their families.
Our volunteer programs are aligned to the strategies and operational objectives of the organisation but provide a unique non-clinical holistic dimension to hospital life which truly enhances the experience of all concerned.

The post would potentially provide a fantastic opportunity for a member of staff wanting to develop project and people management skills.

Main duties of the job
As the successful post holder you will:
- co design and coproduce volunteer projects to support patients, their families and our hard-working staff across all outpatient areas at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and offsite properties.
- be responsible for implementing, recruiting, managing and supervising volunteer teams to deliver the desired project outcomes.
- conduct mandatory training and bespoke project specific training, e.g. customer service, digital programmes, data collection & analysis and wheelchair pushing for which you will provide ongoing mentoring and dedicated day to day supervision.
- align the volunteer programme to the key objectives of the organisation and report into the patient experience and engagement board.
Working with volunteers who provide an holistic dimension to hospital life is fun and full filling.

- Work collaboratively with the Voluntary Services Manager, clinic leads, operational service leads, admin managers, allied health professionals and offsite service managers to co-ordinate the full implementation of a volunteer investment plan which ensures that all appropriate outpatients are referred to the Volunteer team for holistic and practical support whilst visiting the hospital.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategy for volunteering which promotes and supports the inclusion of volunteer involvement for outpatients and support for visitors in clinical areas.
- Align the volunteer programme to the Trusts key objectives and best practice around hospital acquired deconditioning and dementia support.
- Work closely with all project stakeholders (clinical, nursing, medical, administrative staff, suppliers and partners) to encourage and support service charge and ensure buy-in throughout the project stages.
- Support the design, measurement and delivery of project benefits, justification and progress to all key stakeholders and maintain a comprehensive system for monitoring action plans, checking timescales and preparing reports for committees as required.
