Job summary

The ENT/Head and Neck surgery department at NNUH is pleased to advertise a new post for a full-time Consultant ENT surgeon with special interest in Head and Neck surgical Oncology based at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

The department provide specialist surgical oncology services across Norfolk & Waveney and North Suffolk region. We have close links and the main surgical hub for adjacent trusts in James Paget Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn and the ESNEFT trust comprising (Ipswich Hospital and Colchester).

We are a renowned centre of excellence in training and provide specialist fellowship training as part of the National TIG head and neck surgical fellowship program .

The Head and Neck Catchment area covers a population of 1.4 million. We work very closely with other surgical disciplines of Oral and Maxillo-facial surgery and Plastic surgery as part of the core Head and Neck surgical MDT. We also work very closely with Thoracic surgery colleagues in various airway reconstructive surgery, and retrosternal endocrine surgery patients. We are high volume centre for LASER airway and endoscopic cancer surgery for East of England. We have an established Davinci Robotic head and neck surgery program for oropharyngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer.

Main duties of the job

The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.

The appointee will be participating in a 1 in 8 weekday on-calls, and 1 in 11 weekends on-call.

All consultants, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust's Clinical Governance programme.

This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.

The appointee will be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee and be expected to serve on this committee.
