Applications are invited for a full-time fixed-term appointment in the Obstetrics Department and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to fill a vacancy for 2 months starting on 4th April 2023.
The successful applicant would join a team of 12 consultant Obstetricians delivering high quality antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the existing team to provide specialized antenatal care in the Rainbow Clinic. The Rainbow Clinic at NNUH is a specialist service for pregnancy after stillbirth or neonatal death, requiring additional ultrasound scanning skills for screening for pregnancy complications and fetal surveillance. They will be responsible for leading guideline development and supporting MDT training across the Maternity Department.
The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.
All consultants, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust's Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.
The appointee will be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee and be expected to serve on this committee.

The Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department is based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital at which there are 50 Obstetric beds (excluding delivery floor) and 22 Gynaecology beds also 22 Special Care Cots.
The Maternity Unit at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital deals with approximately 5,700 deliveries annually, and a bed throughput of 4,500 patients for the Gynaecology beds.
