Job summary

Are you a newly qualified midwife looking to join a supportive team with an innovative approach to midwifery?

If so, #TeamNNUH's midwifery service would love to hear from you!

The NNUH team of midwives is expanding. We are therefore seeking applications from newly qualified midwives, to join the team as Band 5 Midwife in a rotational role - working within both a hospital and potentially, within a community setting.

This advert is aimed at students due to complete their programme of study in August/September 2023. Later completion may not be considered for shortlisting as candidates will not be ready for professional registration and subsequent clinical work within the timeframe required, unfortunately.

We are a friendly and supportive team; and in line with current NHS England requirements, are currently implementing a phased programme of work to provide Continuity of Care to the women we care for. We understand the changes this brings to the way we work and are listening to the team, to ensure that we get it right for both them and our patients.

When you join us and throughout your career here, you will be encouraged to develop professionally with the support of our Practice Development team. The team will provide a robust preceptorship programme, so you are able to have an insight into each clinical area.

We are dedicated to providing one to one care to all women in established labour and are really proud to have achieved and maintained BFI Level 3 accreditation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in the organisation and co-ordination of day-to-day activities in their area of work by effectively utilising resources and assume responsibility in the absence of a more senior midwife. This includes prioritising the care needs of women and appropriately allocating staff maintaining an awareness of the progress of each woman's care.

  • Flexible working -We want all our staff to achieve a balance between work and life outside work and we understand how important flexible working options can be. We will consider any applicant who wants to work on a flexible basis - and we have a number of options available.
  • We are dedicated to providing one to one care to all women in established labour and are really proud to have achieved and maintained BFI Level 3 accreditation. We are an ambitious department, with plans in place to continue to develop and improve the service we offer.
  • When you join us and throughout your career here, you will be encouraged to develop professionally with the support of our Practice Development team. The team will provide a robust orientation programme, so you are able to have an insight into each clinical area from day one.
