Job summary
The PACU Team at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital is recruiting a band 4 Nursing Associate to join their busy team.
The trust's PRIDE values are integral to the role with patients being at the heart of what they do, in providing care in the immediate post anaesthetic / surgical period, to enable the safe transfer to the ongoing destinations (surgical wards / day procedure wards / critical care complex).
PACU services cover 23 main operating theatres over two floors, and outreach areas comprising: Obstetric Theatres, CT & MRI, NCIR, Brachytherapy Suite and Gastroenterology.
Two new theatre suites are also due to open later this year: - the Jenny Lind Theatre Complex and the Norfolk & Norwich Orthopaedic Centre, where recovery staff will also be allocated to work in the associated PACU rooms.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of registered nurses, ODPs, HCAs, TSWs and medical staff.
The ability to communicate in a personable, approachable, and respectful manner to individuals from inside and outside the organisation is essential to building the relationships needed to promote safe working practices.
The PACU Team is dedicated to improving patients' experience by undertaking Quality Improvement initiatives and staff satisfaction by staff involvement.
A supportive orientation programme is provided. All newly appointed staff work in a supernumerary capacity alongside an assigned mentor until assessed as being competent to work in line with their job role. As a teaching hospital, professional development of staff is supported.
