Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital

Job summary

Minor Injuries at NNUH forms part of the Emergency Dept and has a team of ENPs who can treat a range of minor injuries. The location allows access to radiology services as well as other services and specialties which provide support for decision making and treatment of patients.

Minor Injuries at Cromer sits on the site of Cromer Hospital, a modern setting for a range of acute out-patient and day case services. The unit has on-site access to plain film x-ray and is an entirely nurse led department with an ability to treat an extensive range of minor injuries for the local community but with the ability to refer into specialty at NNUH.

Both of these services are staffed from a single pool of ENPs that flex across both sites, giving a pleasant variance in working environment.

Interview Date: 6th September 2023

Main duties of the job

To act as an autonomous practitioner who has been trained and is deemed competent to assess, diagnose, treat and discharge patients. When based in Cromer this would be done without reference to a doctor on site.(although as a satellite unit from the main Emergency Dept advice is easily sought from senior colleagues at NNUH)

To deliver care to a range of minor injury presentations and to stabilise more serious injury and illness cases. In Cromer this would be without on-site access to medical services. To refer on patients to outside agencies in a knowledgeable and competent manner.

Shifts are 12 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

In Cromer this is a 07:45- 20:15 shift.

In Norwich this will be a 12 hour shift that may start at 08:00. 10:00 or 12:00 in order to stagger to demand.

There would be an expectation that the successful applicant could work and support across both Cromer and NNUH sites according to service needs.
