The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network East of England (CRN EoE) is the clinical research delivery arm of the NHS. The NIHR operates nationally across England through a national co-ordinating centre and 15 local research networks in the NHS supporting research across all disease areas.This post is based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working from our offices in the city centre.
The NIHR believes that active Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) is essential in the delivery of a programme of research which directly reflects the priorities, needs and views of patients, carers and the public.
Main duties of the job
As the post holder , you will support the delivery of the CRN East of England PPIE work plan across partner organisations and other providers which will meet the CRN East of England strategic PPI objectives: support and monitor the implementation of the plan across multiple sites and adjust the work plan if targets are not met. This entails a robust evaluation approach to capture the impact and learning from the initiatives.
This post offers a chance to oversee the delivery and further development of the Participant in Research Experience Survey in the EoE, including the development of support materials for deliveryteams, development and delivery of the PRES Action Plan, participationin National groups and ensuring the High Level Objective for Participant Experience is achieved
This is an opportunity to support development and delivery of the PPIE annual work plan, in partnership with public contributors and in line with the CRN's National Strategy. This requires liaison with a wide range of stakeholders with the aim of improving the delivery of research, as well as equality, diversityand inclusion in research.
Part time - 22.5 hours per week

- To identify and develop new policies and strategies as required, in line with overarching aims of the NIHR CRN infrastructure to achieve CRN East of England strategic PPI objectives
- Act as a strategic lead to develop areas of good practice and co-ordinate their implementation across the network.
- Liaise with other local NIHR infrastructure e.g., RDS and national PPI organisations such as INVOLVE enhancing patient engagement and participation in research.
- Ensure resources allocated against PPI work are managed effectively.
- Responsible for evaluation of, and reports on, impacts of patient participation and engagement with NIHR Portfolio research providing regular analysis of PPI activity and including success of new initiatives against expected outputs. (Develop processes if necessary).
- Contribute to CRN East of England annual reports and strategic input into business plans working with divisional PPI leads
