Job summary
We are looking for a full time Senior Clinical Fellow to join the Trauma & Orthopaedcic department in our Trust. This post is designed to be equivalent to a Specialty Training post in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
This is a non-Deanery posts so is not accredited for training, but will give the post-holder similar clinical/surgical experiences and opportunities for learning and developing professional skills. The postholder will be expected to complete audit/QUI projects, as well as given opportunities for teaching and research.
The appointment will be for one year in the first instance, but with the possibility to extend by a year or more thereafter depending on individual circumstances.
This post is ideal for an individual wanting to further their Orthopaedic experience at various levels of specialty training, junior or senior. It is therefore suitable for those wanting to get more experience prior to embarking on formal specialty training programmes, those looking for training/experience for CESR accreditation and for those looking for focussed experience prior to consultant posts.
Main duties of the job
In general, the appointed individuals will be expected to work in fracture and elective clinics, trauma and elective operating lists and care for patients on the ward (working effectively with junior members of the team such as Core and Foundation trainees, alongside other HCPs, such as Specialist Nurse Practitioners).
The duties will largely mirror those of the Specialty trainees at the trust, with elective and emergency commitments, including on-call. The work pattern is an 18-person full shift rota, with allocation to on-call, trauma or elective commitments, ensuring compliance with JCST quality indicators.
Whilst this post is not recognised for training nor Deanery approved, an Educational Supervisor will be allocated to the fellow, and annual assessments of progression will be performed. The postholders will be encouraged to attend the East of England T&O Training programme educational events when possible, as well as departmental educational activities.
