The QSI (former ISAS) accredited Radiology Department at the NNUH has a great fixed term/secondment opportunity for an Imaging Operations Manager to support the Radiology Service Managers, Operations Managers & the Imaging modality leads in the Imaging services timely delivery of operational targets. This is fixed term/secondment post until 31/03/2024 with a potential for the post to be extended.

The Imaging department is experiencing high growth, demand and requests for new/extended services along with strategic plans for expansion underway. To align to the Trust's vision and five-year plan we are looking to recruit an Imaging Operations Manager with proven management and leadership skills who is keen to work in a patient centred, highly technical department. You will be required to operationally lead teams of enthusiastic modality leads, utilising their skills to develop a dynamic Imaging department.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be working with a multidisciplinary team of Radiologists, Registrars, Allied Health professionals (AHPs), Nursing and Imaging support, admin and clerical teams, who all input into the daily operational activities of the department. They will be expected to provide professional leadership and management within the work environment, be responsible for the standards of care provided within the Imaging service and for supporting the implementation of innovative practice, while utilising change management skills.

The ideal candidate would have experience of working within an Imaging department or healthcare setting with multidisciplinary teams, involved in achievement of both local and national targets and experience with change management and oversight of multiple projects

The Imaging Department consists of sites at both NNUH and Cromer Hospital. The NNUH is recognised nationally and internationally for the quality and range of services provided. Our Radiology Academy is one of the three academies nationwide and offers excellent opportunities for training and research. We are working closely with the Norwich Radiology Academy and University of East Anglia to develop these further and encourage sub specialisation in key clinical areas. Continuous Professional Development is actively supported through an established appraisal system, in-service training and opportunities for further post graduate study.

  • Deputise for the Imaging Service Manager across all modalities and aspects of service delivery as and when required.
  • Be operationally responsible for the tactical and strategic management of the Imaging service.
  • Be directly responsible for the development, leadership and management of the Modality Lead Radiographers
  • Be operational manager in charge of all radiographers within designated modalities within Imaging.
  • Direct and support the Imaging Service Manager and Clinical Director in developing and maintaining a high quality patient centred imaging service.
  • Develop robust and sustainable strategic plans for the delivery of radiological services for the Trust within the context of an unpredictable market place and conflicts of interest of key stakeholders.
  • Be operationally responsible for the achievement of Directorate and Trust targets.
  • Manage, develop, direct and facilitate changes both in the development of radiological staff and working practices in Imaging services.
  • Be operationally responsible for the direction and communication of complex strategies within the Directorate of Imaging and between other Directorates, other healthcare providers, and Trusts.
  • Support the Service Manager in the utilisation of all resources monetary and staff in the maintenance of Imaging services.
  • Ensure that the department provides for the safe, effective and high quality care for all patients.
