NNUH is looking for Trust Medical Secretary to join our busy hospital across the surgical ward teams and Outpatient Departments. Our vision is to provide the best care for every patient, and we are recruiting Medical Secretaries across the Division who share this.

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals who have a genuine passion for working with patients in our acute care specialities and can support our PRIDE values.You don't need any healthcare experienceto join us as a Trust Medical Secretary.

As a Trust Medical Secretary, you will support your team by providing high quality administrative support service to our surgical departments and as such, be a point of contact for all communications between the consultants, patients, relatives and all hospital staff whilst assisting in general office administration.

We are passionate about staff development and will support you in your Admin & Clerical career at NNUH. We offer multiple training courses to help develop your skills and progress within the organisation.

Main duties of the job

Act as a point of contact for all communications between the Consultant, patients, relatives, all hospital staff, General Practitioners and their staff and outside agencies, maintaining a close working relationship between consultants and patients as appropriate. Assist in the general office administration of the Consultant and designated clinical team.

The kind of duties you can expect to be involved in:

  • Accurately transcribe all correspondence from consultants by typing from audio or digital dictation.
  • Promptly action clinical investigations, results and outcomes.
  • Book outpatient appointments as required and in response to urgent referrals, booking clinics as necessary.
  • Assist the Administration and Clerical team with data management utilising PAS and other departmental patient databases
