The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is looking for Health Care Assistants to join our busy ward teams. Ourvision is to provide the best care for every patient and we are recruiting Health Care Assistants across the Trust who share this.

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants who have a genuine passion for working with patients in our acute care specialities and can support our PRIDE values. You don't need any healthcare experience to join us as a Healthcare Assistant, and this role is the perfect entry point into the NHS. We are looking for people who have experience in a customer facing role or a position which requires you to work compassionately.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you can expect no two days to be the same. You will support patients through their treatment, sharing their experiences and making a real difference in their journey back to health as part of a tight-knit team of healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

Supporting You

As a Health Care Assistant, you will be supported through your Care Certificate Programme, requiring completion of set modules, with help from our dedicated Clinical Educator and Practice Development teams. Upon completion of the certificate, you will also have the opportunity to pick up additional bank shifts.

We are passionate about staff development and will support you in your career as a Health Care Assistant and beyond. Opportunities arise for you to progress to a Senior Health Care Assistant (working towards NVQ Level 3), and our HCAs have also gone on to become Assistant Practitioners.

Our Health Care Assistants have the exciting opportunity to apply to join the Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA) programme, a two-year course, resulting in Nursing Associate registration and making you eligible to train as a Registered Nurse via a shortened nursing degree or Registered Nurse degree apprenticeship (RNDA). The TNA course acts as a stepping stone to becoming a Nurse, and we are proud to offer this opportunity to our Health Care Assistants.

Our Open Days

At our open days, you will have the opportunity to visit our Education Zone to learn more about the role, the different specialties hiring and speak to on-site professionals about the position and career progression opportunities.

You might like to work on a ward in our busy hospital where you will be working with nurses to look after our adults, children, or elderly patients. We have a wide range of roles and the training to help you make the most of your talent.

Interviews will be held on Sunday 17th July and Saturday 23rd July. Please allow around 3-4 hours for the event and bring with you:

  • Photo ID and evidence of your Right to Work
  • NI Number
  • Document confirming proof of address e.g. bank statement or utility bill issued within the last 3 months or this year's council tax statement
  • CV which includes references to cover the last 3 years of employment/ education and training including contact details and business email addresses
Induction and Training

We provide a supportive and comprehensive induction programme for Health Care Assistants joining the Trust. You will be required to attend our two week training course. The first week is classroom based and during the second week you will be shadowing colleagues and getting to know your new ward team.

Our next available training courses will be starting onMonday 8th Augustand Monday 22nd August.
