CONSULTANT POST IN TRAUMA AND ORTHOPAEDICS WITH INTEREST IN KNEE ARTHROPLASTY
Applications are invited for this new consultant post in the department of Trauma and Orthopaedics, which arises from the development of a new elective orthopaedic facility at NNUH & our commitment to providing a specialist revision service. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will play a major role in the further development of our primary and revision services and participate in the general on call rota.
Main duties of the job
All consultants, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust's Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.
The appointee will be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee and may wish to serve on this committee.
The appointee will be expected to carry out primary lower limb arthroplasty surgery, including simple and complex primary TKR, UKR and peri-prosthetic knee replacement fractures. Primary hip arthroplasty surgery will also be within the posts remit for elective and trauma patients. Expertise in the management of knee revision and infection arthroplasty would be beneficial, as would experience of enhanced recovery / day case arthroplasty surgery. There is also the opportunity, with the support of the current knee arthroplasty surgeons, to further develop the local revision MDT service

- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR (CP) within 6 months of interview
- Minimum 12 months recognised specialist fellowship training in Trauma Surgery
- Current ATLS provider certification
