Job summary

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant post in the Dermatology Department at NNUHFT.

This is an 8PA post over 4 days per week for a period of 6 months initially, to start as soon as possible.

Main duties of the job

The post will involve work in General Dermatology, Paediatric Dermatology, Skin Lesion/Cancer Clinics, and Surgery.

This post sits alongside a team of 14 Consultants within the Dermatology Department.

About us

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of acute clinical services through the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (1,000 beds) and Cromer and District Hospital, including more specialist services such as oncology and radiotherapy, neonatology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, rheumatology, paediatric medicine and surgery.

Our staff of over 7,000 treat more than one million patients; people from Norfolk, neighbouring counties and further afield. Our patients are referred to us by around 100 local GP practices but also from other acute hospitals and primary care trusts around the country.

As a university teaching hospital we have developed our research and development strategy in partnership with the University of East Anglia.

We also work closely with our partners on the Norwich Research Park and Norwich Radiology Academy to take forward our ambitious targets for research and development.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration, MRCP (or FRCS plastics) or equivalent
  • MBBS or equivalent

Desirable

  • PhD or MD
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register Via; oCCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) oCESR

Aptitude

Essential

  • Good communicator.
  • Demonstrates skills and aptitude needed to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.

Desirable

  • Previous responsibility for service improvement.
  • Management skills

Experience

Essential

  • Applicants who are Nationals from another European country or elsewhere overseas would have to show equivalence to the 5 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty.
  • Training and expertise in children's safeguarding
  • Training and experience in paediatric dermatology.

Desirable

  • Experience in research or published papers in area of special interest
