TheNorfolk and Norwich University Hospital is looking for Health Care Assistants to join our busy hospital across the surgical ward teams, in the Operating Theatres and on our Surgical Wards. Our vision is to provide the best care for every patient and we are recruiting Health Care Assistants across the Division who share this.

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants who have a genuine passion for working with patients in our acute care specialities and can support our PRIDE values.You don't need any healthcare experienceto join us as a Healthcare Assistant, and this role is the perfect entry point into the NHS.

Main duties of the job

Supporting You

As a Health Care Assistant, you will be supported through your Care Certificate Programme, requiring completion of set modules, with help from our dedicated Clinical Educator and Practice Development teams. Upon completion of the certificate, you will also have the opportunity to pick up additional bank shifts.

We are passionate about staff development and will support you in your career as a Health Care Assistant and beyond. Opportunities arise for you to progress to a Senior Health Care Assistant (working towards NVQ Level 3), and our HCAs have also gone on to become Assistant Practitioners.

Our Health Care Assistants have the exciting opportunity to apply to join the Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA) programme, a two-year course, resulting in Nursing Associate registration and making you eligible to train as a Registered Nurse via a shortened nursing degree or Registered Nurse degree apprenticeship (RNDA). The TNA course acts as a stepping stone to becoming a Nurse, and we are proud to offer this opportunity to our Health Care Assistants.

About us

We are looking for Healthcare Assistants across the division but as particular areas of focus we are looking for HCAs to join us in the Emergency Department and the Theatres Complex.

In theatres as a Theatre Support Worker, you will help with the collection and transfer of patients to and from the operating theatres, you will often be the last person patients see before surgery and the first when they wake up.You will also assistthe multidisciplinary team in the provision of a safe environment for the care of surgical patients in the operating department.

We operate 8 surgical ward areas covering a wide range of specialisms including Head & Neck and Plastics, Spinal & Trauma care, Vascular & Thoracic to Emergency Assessment. With a diverse range of services offered our surgical teams are well supported by educators, including specific HCA education support. With new developments and plans in the works it is an exciting time around the surgical wards at NNUH!

If Theatres or Surgical Wards are not of interest to you we do have limited vacancies in various outpatient teams. In outpatients we cover a wide and diverse variety of specialisms including, Ophthalmics, Fractures, ENT and General Surgery Outpaitients.

All our Surgical Division HCAs benefit from a dedicated support structure set up to aid in your growth, development and training as a HCA.
