Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in the department of Urology. This is a full time post within the newly formed ICS-wide Norfolk and Waveney Urology service. It is expected that the post holder will be trained in general urology and have a subspecialist interest to compliment the wider department. The main base for this post will be The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King Lynn.
Main duties of the job
The Urology services of the three Acute Trust within our STP/ICS have come together to form one unified team as part of our Acute Services Integration Project. No significant changes to services have taken place at the time of transfer but the team are now working on transforming services. This is a real opportunity to standardise practice, improve quality with better outcomes and enhance patient experience across Norfolk and Waveney. We are looking for candidates who want to contribute to our service at this exciting time.

About us
The Norfolk & Waveney Urology Department, established in 2020, consists of 21 Consultants working across three acute trust sites. 14 Consultants (13.8 whole time equivalents), 3 Specialist Registrars, 5 Clinical fellows, and 2 ACFs, are at NNUH, 4 Consultants and 1 specialty doctor at JPUH and 7 Consultants at QEHKL.

The appointee will join an active team at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital with considerable collective expertise consisting of 6 Consultants, 2 Specialty Doctors, 1 MCh Fellows, 1 urology trainee, 2 FY2s and 1 FY1.
The department is well equipped with facilities for preoperative video for both operating and teaching. We have a transrectal ultrasound system which is used exclusively by the urology department. Standard and Video Urodynamics are performed at this hospital. We have rigid ureteroscopes plus a lithoclast. We also have a flexible uretro-reoscope and Holmium YAG laser availability in Main Theatre and Day Surgery. We are fully equipped for P.C.N.L and also have a visiting service for E.S.W.L on a monthly basis.
The main hospital services are based at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. There are seven operating theatres plus recovery suites, and adjacent to the theatres is a well-equipped 5 bedded ITU plus CCU. There is an established Endoscopy Suite at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
