Job summary

This Junior Clinical Fellow (Foundation Trainee Year 1 equivalent) post covers a vacancy in Vascular Surgery and Urology.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to experience working in a busy teaching hospital. The post is at Foundation Year 1 equivalent level. Please note that this is not an official training post but will provide excellent experience for those hoping to complete Foundation Training.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Basic medical qualification (MB BS or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Attendance at relevant courses, e.g. ATLS, Basic Surgical Skills or equivalent

Aptitudes

Essential

  • Good communicator
  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Enthusiasm for service development and teaching
  • Demonstrates appropriate clinical competence

Desirable

  • Previous participation in audit/service improvement.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in hospital medicine - internal/general medicine.

Desirable

  • Six months NHS experience
  • Experience in specified field of medicine within the rotations available

Interests

Essential

  • Commitment to develop an appropriate special interest

Desirable

  • A special interest within the rotations available

Circumstances

Essential

  • Flexible outlook on working hours.
  • Must live within a 15-mile radius of the base Trust or 30 minutes travelling time.

  • All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following: othat applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English; or o have the following scores in the academic international English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application - Overall 7, Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7. If applicants believe that they have adequate communication skills but do not fit into one of these examples they must provide evidence
