We currently have an opportunity for an innovative, resilient and adaptable nurse to join our team on Easton EAUS. You will need to be highly motivated and have great communication skills.
EAUS is a varied, fast-paced, dynamic Emergency Assessment Unit for Surgery. We have a high turnover of patients as we take our own direct emergency admissions from GPs, clinics and A&E. We assess and admit patients from nine surgical specialities including general surgery, urology, ENT, orthopaedic trauma and plastics. We are committed to providing the highest standard of care for our patients. EAUS is divided into two parts a Surgical Ambulatory Emergency Care (SAEC) and a main 21 bed inpatient area (Easton ward.)
The unit is continually evolving and as a team we are always looking for new initiatives to improve and enhance our patient's experience. We are a friendly, cohesive team and pride ourselves on our excellent assessment skills, allowing us to initiate specialised individual treatment plans and providing initial front line emergency care. We are passionate about encouraging our staff to develop their clinical skills and knowledge and believe we provide an environment which facilitates professional development.
Main duties of the job

We are the main referral centre in the region for Urology, Vascular, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Plastics, and ENT
- We have our own Clinical Educator who supports all staff, from new starters to established team members, enhancing knowledge and skills, and identifying achievable career goals.
- Our surgical colleagues have a national and European reputation for their research, innovation in pioneering techniques and treatments along with excellent patient outcomes.
As postholder you will:
- Work closely in conjunction with our surgical teams and the MDT allowing you to gain clinical skills and knowledge about a wide variety of different surgical procedures and diagnosis'.
- Work across all our clinical areas and experience both acute and on-going care.
- Be supported by our dedicated Clinical Educator to become a confident and competent practitioner across our clinical areas including our Ambulatory Emergency Care unit.
- Contribute to new service provision and process developments to improve our patient experience
- Be encouraged to participate in link nurse meetings and share learning.
