Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Oncologist with primary interests in Breast and Gynaecological malignancies to join our dynamic team. This post is a replacement post created as a result of the current post holder retiring. The successful applicant will join a team of 17 consultants managing cancer across Norfolk. There is a strong site-specific team ethos to working in the department and within each cancer site. Treatment is according to local protocols developed in conjunction with cancer network tumour groups.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will principally be part of the Breast and Gynae( or other as agreed) MDT', a with responsibility for delivering SACT at NNUH.Due to expertise within the department allowing for flexibility and internal reorganization applicants with an interest in other tumor sites are also strongly encouraged to apply. The appointee would be expected to see approximately 300 new patients annually and to participate in a 1:14 on call rota.The appointee will undertake new patient and follow up clinics, managing his/her own clinical workload within a team setting. The appointee would attend and actively participate in the relevant tumor site MDT meetings

Chemotherapy is provided in purpose built units in Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Cromer, whilst an exciting opportunity has enabled us to commission the use of a Mobile Chemotherapy Care Unit which will provide chemotherapy to patients closer to home. We are extremely proud of the strength of our Radiotherapy service with IMRT and IGRT as standard in many tumour sites and state-of-the-art equipment.The clinical and Medical oncologists work closely as a team to deliver multi-modality holistic care to the patients.

  • Full GMC Registration Entry on the GMC Specialist Register Via; oCCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) oCESR or oEuropean Community Rights oAn appropriate higher qualification.

Aptitudes

Essential

  • Good communicator.
  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.

Desirable

  • Previous responsibility for service improvement. Management skills

Experience
