Job summary

We are delighted to be advertising this new opportunity for 2 motivated and enthusiastic Band 4 Nursery Nurses to join our perinatal mental health team within the Parent and Baby day unit. This post requires some weekend working as the service operates a 7 day service.

The role will involve supporting mums in the antenatal and postnatal period experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. This may include work around bonding and attachment. You will work alongside families, carers and other health professionals to provide high quality care to both mum and baby.

The appointed individual will need to be innovative, compassionate and motivated. They will need to have a passion to support mothers, babies and their families working to make a positive contribution to they recovery journey.

Main duties of the job

To offer support to the nursing team providing a safe environment for baby to be cared for while mum attends appointments.

To offer individual sessions to a mum and baby, for example baby massage, education around parent craft and play, bonding and attachment support.

To offer group sessions where appropriate which may include partners.

To offer support both in the day hospital and community setting.

They will contribute to holistic community assessments, in a range of settings, with a strong emphasis on the parent-infant relationship and safeguarding.
