Job summary

North Stoke Community CAMHS team are looking to recruit to a part time (30 hours per week) CBT Therapist.

The post holder will be expected to adopt the policies and philosophy of the Trust and of the service, and provide care using a range of therapeutic interventions which promote independence, foster a learning culture and enhance the autonomy of the service user. They will be required to sustain respectful, consistent and reliable therapeutic relationships with service users that enhance their ability to build social networks and work in partnership with other agencies.

The post holder will work, in partnership with the operational and clinical leaders, Medical Consultants and Multi-Disciplinary Teams, to ensure highly specialist levels of clinical practice in assessment, management and treatment of children, young people and their families. They will be required to ensure that the best evidence-based care is given to children, young people and their families, within the resources available to the service. There will be an emphasis upon working with highly complex presenting difficulties within multiagency networks.

Main duties of the job

As a senior evidenced based therapist and as a member of the multi-disciplinary clinical team, the post holder will deliver highly specialist clinical practice, under supervision and within national and local professional guidelines and competencies. They will act as a resource in education and development to NHS and partner agencies in Stoke on Trent and North Staffordshire, including pre-qualification and post-qualification education and training. This will include a senior role within the Training Programmes delivered in partnership with the Universities of Derby, Manchester and Northampton. They will liaise with other professionals in community mental health, in-patient settings and primary health care where specialist clinical networking, advice, consultation and support will be provided. This will include undertaking relevant research, audit and service evaluation. They will identify gaps in current provision and contribute to developments and policy changes within the service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Mental health related professional (e.g. Qualified RMN, social worker, occupational therapist, or a psychological therapist) and professionally registered with the appropriate body with either a Post Graduate Diploma in CBT, a Masters degree in CBT or equivalent.

Experience

  • Significant experience of working in child and adolescent mental health services

Knowledge

Essential

  • Full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competence framework for CBT (Roth and Pilling 2007)
