A new and exciting band 5 OT vacancy has arisen within our Learning Disability Community Services
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated OT preferably with a background or previous experience in learning disabilities to join our busy and dynamics MDT team.
The service covers the geographical area of Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire and the operating hours are 9-5 Monday - Friday with some pre-arranged flexible working if clients' needs require this.
The team is large and well established with a range of experienced and specialist OTs. The wider MDT team is dynamic innovative and the post holder will enjoy close working with the Inpatient Assessments an Treatment Service and Intensive support team.
Advocacy, Enablement and Empowerment is the focus of our work. This will be an excellent development role for anyone who enjoys a variety of work where each day brings satisfaction and new challenges.
Main duties of the job
Be a member of the Community Learning Disability Health Team, demonstrating the ability to make decisions and influence the development of services, and work with clients in a variety of health / community settings.
Participate in the development of an evolving learning disability service.
Participate in the development and provision of the learning disability Occupational Therapy role in North Staffordshire.
To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of occupational therapy services within a designated area / team, and contributing to relevant projects.
Will be required to teach staff including both students and qualified and unqualified team members.
Provide Occupational Therapy advice to the integrated teams and partnership agencies on learning disability and continuing healthcare referrals.
Develop complimentary roles as agreed with the Team Manager to meet objectives for improving the health for adults with learning disabilities as set out in the Department of Health White Paper "Valuing People - A New Strategy for Learning Disability for the 21st Century" and "Valuing People Now". These roles will incorporate health promotion, facilitation, treatment and service development.
