Job summary

We are looking for four enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Psychologists to join our Community Mental Health Teams. There will be one post situated in each of the CMHTs as follows:

  • Greenfields Centre in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent
  • Sutherland Centre in Dresden, Stoke-on-Trent
  • Ashcombe Centre in Leek, Cheddleton
  • Lyme Brook Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme

These are new posts developed as part of community transformation and reflecting the national investment in increasing access to psychological therapies within secondary care.

Main duties of the job

To work with an extremely varied case load, working with service users and their families with difficulties ranging across a range of presentations as seen in secondary care mental such as complex trauma, depression, psychosis, interpersonal difficulties and challenging behaviour and in line with the post holders experience and competencies.

To work as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team offering advice and joint working where needed. Much of this work will be within the team informing the best service delivery for our service users.

Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of highly specialist psychological care to service users with highly complex mental health conditions which may include challenging behaviours.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical / counselling psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.

Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification showing evidence of supervised practice in an evidence-based psychological therapeutic model

Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist

Knowledge

Essential

  • Doctoral level knowledge of : evidence- based practice relevant to the role, Risk assessment and risk management, Clinical governance, Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within mental health

Desirable

  • Experience within perinatal mental health
