Job summary
We are seeking applications for our Consultant Psychiatrist of Intellectual Disability (Adults).
North Staffordshire Combined Health Care provides specialist MH (adult & old age), Addiction (inpatient nationally & Stoke on Trent community services), Neuropsychiatry & Learning Disability, & tier 3 child psychiatry services. We also provide specialist tier 4 in-patient children's services on a wider regional basis. The Trust is located within close proximity to the University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM) & Keele University Medical School with whom the Trust has close links supporting Academic Programmes, Research & Development.
We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking individual who can work within a well-established Multi-Disciplinary team working closely with external partners to develop a dynamic, responsive & client centred service. The post holder needs to be both experienced & knowledgeable in Learning Disabilities, Autism, Adult Psychiatry & MH Diagnosis. This post is full-time, covering Monday to Friday, with the ability to apply for agile working arrangements which will be considered alongside service delivery.
The role is full-time (part-time will be considered) & will consist of 10 PA's or pro rata for part-time hours, including CPD & Supporting Professional Activity, & you will engage with the development of your Job Plan.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will operate primarily across Adult LD Services (County) in the city of Stoke on Trent, covering a geographical area of the Moorlands and Newcastle, however there will be an expectation to cross cover for city colleagues for planned and unplanned absences.
The assessment, diagnosis and treatment of clients will form a large aspect of the role in both clinic and community locations. This is supported by an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary teams. The medical team currently consists of a Speciality Doctor an existing Consultant and 3 x Independent Nurse Prescribers.
The successful candidate will be expected to manage a caseload of clients and be competent to see clients in their own clinics. Experience in Section 117 is a requirement of the role but training can be accessed while in post. There is also an expectation for the successful individual to take part in service development projects, audits, research and supervision of the Locality Prescriber. Additionally, training, CPD and support of other team members, and a key role in the dynamic Multi-Disciplinary Team.
