We have an unique and exciting opportunity for a Deputy Service Manager in our Staff Support and Counselling team. You will be an essential support in leading the way in a team that is at the forefront of staff wellness and providing vital innovative and flexible support offers to all of our colleagues across the Trust.
There are potentially two posts available - one post for 3 days per week which is a permanent position and the second post 2 days per week on a fixed term basis until the 29th February 2024. You will work across our sites as required, in addition to remote working.
It is envisaged that the substantive post will be working Wednesday-Friday, and the fixed term post Monday and Tuesday however this will need to be flexible to meet the demands of the service.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced counsellor to join the Staff Support and Counselling Service as a Deputy Service Manager. This is a busy, highly effective and respected department offering short term brief therapy/counselling and coaching support to staff across the North Staffordshire area, as well as other contracts outside of the area. In addition, the service provides training, group support, team building, mediation, stress management (including Work Related Stress Audits) and critical incident stress management (CISM) support.

The service supports placements to counselling/therapy students, volunteers and as and when required associate counselling staff. The service also supports a range of Health and Wellbeing initiatives across the Trust and you would be expected to be able to participate and contribute to those initiatives. You will be expected to be involved in all aspects of the service delivery as outlined above.
You will have a key role in the counselling and support service and will be contributing to the smooth running of services; ensuring clinical quality is assured and adherence to BACPs code of ethics & practice as well as At Risk Protocols. You will also have a small clinical counselling case load and will be also be responsible for ensuring safe delivery of services using a range of clinical quality checks, mentorship and support to staff within the department, in house training for staff and group supervision. You will also need to have an interest in the activity of the service and how this can be presented to our customer base in a meaningful and productive manner.
The service also supports a full commitment to the health and wellbeing of NHS staff, therefore you will also be expected to be able to write programmes to meet the needs of the staff ensuring topics such as mindfulness, loss, stress and other supportive programmes. This role will require someone with experience as it is a clinically experienced role and would therefore suit someone with a proven track record in the field of counselling.
