Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity within our Costing Team for a full time Information and Costing Analyst working 37.5 hours per week.

In this role, you will ensure that the financial and activity information is produced in accordance with national costing standards for the production of all areas of costing including Service Line Reporting, Patient Level Costing, National Cost Collection and other statutory returns.

The role will involve scrutinising and analysing the activity data working closely with the Informatics and Performance Team to ensure the quality of the data is sufficient to meet the requirements of the national costing standards.

Provide specialist knowledge and financial advice to directorates and service units within the Trust and to its external partners, in particular using Service Line Reporting and Patient Level Costing information to support the process of commissioning the Trust's patient care services and making recommendations for improvements to the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the maintenance of the Patient Level Costing database which underpins Service Line Reporting.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and expertise to Directorates, Clinical Directors and Business Managers. This will involve identifying inefficiencies, root causes and the appropriate corrective action required to increase efficiency and profitability.
  • Support the development and continual improvement of service line reporting information, to support performance monitoring and strategic decision making within the Trust.
  • Investigate complex financial issues, providing assistance & advice as required.
  • Support the production of PLICS and other costing submissions.
  • Present statistical analysis and information in a format that is easily understandable to assist performance and management for all Directorates within the Trust.
  • Support the development of reporting dashboards requiring knowledge of SQL.

  • Masters in relevant field or equivalent operational experience.
