Job summary

Our CAMHS Looked after children team are looking to recruit to a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist, the post is full time and permanent.

The Clinical Psychologist will be a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS team working with Looked after children. The post holder will accept, prioritise, assess and treat referrals of children and young people in the context of their families, carers and professional networks -where presenting problems are of a moderate to high level of complexity.

As part of the team the Clinical Psychology post will be responsible for care co-ordination of children and young people's care within a caseload in consultation with the multi-agency professional network for children and young people who are subject to Looked After Children Plans.

The post holder will offer evidence based interventions, consultation, advice, training and guidance to support children and their professional care networks regarding their emotional, behavioural and mental health.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake thorough initial Psychological assessments of children and young people with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs including urgent risk assessments.

  • To develop complex psychological formulations in clinical practice, negotiating this with clients and their carers/ professional networks and communicate this to referrers and other relevant professionals.

  • To develop complex psychological formulations and provide specialist advice to other professionals on clinical aspects of risk and risk management.

  • To co-ordinate children and young people's care within their involvement with the service including transition points to other services.
