Job summary

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare are looking to recruit to a Band 7 Team Leader post to support the City CMHT based at The Sutherland Centre in Stoke-on-Trent.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of the identified Integrated Community Mental Health Team and associated resources in order to achieve effective care delivery to the overall caseload of the community team.

The successful candidate will have a core role in ensuring that Trust Core standards are met in the management of the clients cared for by the team, and is required to ensure that working practices enable the supervision and direction of junior staff regarding the case management of individual clients or groups of clients within the caseload. This will include a specific group of clients for whom the caseload manager acts as care coordinator and is responsible for the direct delivery and management of their care. Additionally they will have responsibility for the clinical practice of the team and supervision of junior staff in respect of this. This will require the post holder to ensure regular reviews and or supervision sessions take place and to oversee the systems for general patient management such as referral, assessment and discharge procedure.

Main duties of the job

  • To have 24 hour continuing responsibility for the delivery of the specified Integrated Community Mental Health Service. This includes not only clinical management but also responsibilities for the management of staff, working environment and practices, specific budgets and resources.

  • Management of staffing resources, planning and authorisation of annual leave, study leave and ensuring the reallocation of tasks within the limitations of the team to cover any resulting shortfalls.

  • Co-ordinating clinical activity, liaison with appropriate teams, services and agencies, management of any interface issues.

  • Immediate problem solving and decision making, long term planning for future developments both within the immediate clinical area and within the service area.
