Job summary

As a centre of excellence in the delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for anxiety disorders and depression, we are committed to supporting CBT therapists to minimise the effects of the pandemic on their working lives, and to maximise their wellbeing. We offer flexible, blended working practices that enable therapists to retain the convenience of home-working, whilst also supporting them to deliver face-to-face behavioural experiments with clients to ensure effectiveness and maintain their clinical skills. We prioritise professional development for our therapists, who are each allocated an annual training budget with travel and accommodation expenses to allow attendance at wide range of specialist CBT workshops. We are an extremely friendly team who prioritise team wellbeing activities and supportive group events to maximise connectivity with colleagues and promote a positive inclusive culture. The service covers the whole North Staffordshire geographical area (apart from Stoke-on-Trent), which includes the Leek/Staffordshire Moorlands, and parts of the Peak District National Park.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a BABCP accredited/accreditable CBT Therapist who can deliver clinical sessions from home, in designated GP practices/primary care clinics, and also spend some time in the Wellbeing Team clinical base as required. All CBT Therapists are linked to a specific GP Practice, and also work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing a range of effective psychological therapies for a range of common mental health problems and physical health problems in primary care.

About us

As one of the best performing IAPT teams in the Midlands, we have a proven track record in excellence, fuelled by our commitment to the CBT evidence base and NICE/IAPT guidance. Our focus on clinical excellence ensures that staff are not managed through targets, but through regular, supportive clinical supervision and training/development. We are a centre for research as well as clinical practice, working in partnership with Staffordshire and Keele Universities to publish studies in high impact clinical journals. All therapists contribute to ongoing clinical research projects, and are actively encouraged to pursue their own research interests.
