Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our team within our Specialist Adult Eating Disorder Service (SAEDS) based at The Willows, Hanley, Stoke on Trent, working full time, 09.00-17.00 Monday to Friday. As a part of your role working within the team you will utilise your specialist skills and knowledge to assist with the assessment and treatment of clients referred to SAEDS. The role will include providing leadership and clinical expertise into our eating disorders physical health monitoring clinics.

Our SAEDS seeks to provide a high quality service to ensure that clients receive their care by the right person in the right place at the right time, supported by NICE guidance. Enhancing education, prevention, early intervention and strengthened pathways.

We are looking for a self-motivated, organised individual who is committed to the their role promoting the principles and practice of recovery and is able to provide specialist support into managing the physical and mental health of those with complex eating disorders and act as care co-ordinator where necessary. If you have experience in leading, working in community settings and working collaboratively across teams you may be the person we are looking for.

The Trust offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which is tailored to meet the professional development needs of individual practitioners.

Main duties of the job

The MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Programme takes 3-5 years to complete. On successful completion of this programme, you will be a recognised Advanced Clinical Practitioner with an expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills and clinical competencies for an expanded autonomous scope of practice, the characteristics of which are shaped by the context in which you practice.

The role of Advanced Nurse Practitioner requires the delivery of advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in the delivery of clinical care. Initially, you will be employed as a Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Band 7) and upon completion of your training you will take on the role of Advanced Nurse Practitioner (Band 8a). A competitive selection process will therefore be required.

There are a number of funding routes available, which include an apprenticeship route.

The minimum entry requirements are:

  • Degree in Nursing
  • Registered Mental Health or Learning Disabilities Nurse
  • Evidence of professional updating
  • Ability and willingness to undertake MSc Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience
