Main duties of the job
- Plan, design and implementation of small landscape gardening projects.
- Operate petrol, electrical and hand - tool machinery and equipment.
- Drive motorised grass cutting machinery and small tractor with trailer.
- Observe safe working practices, showing due care and attention and being mindful of others in the vicinity of the working area.
- Carry out digging, weeding, planting, tree lopping, pruning and watering of gardens and potted plants.
- Diagnose and suitably treat disease, infestations of insects, vermin etc. that affect plants and trees.
- Work predominantly outdoors but with some horticultural duties.
- Assist in the gritting and snow clearance around the site.
- Grass Cutting, Litter Picking, External Bin Emptying, Gritting, Keeping the site tidy, small landscape works.

Job responsibilities
- Undertake further training as required to meet statutory requirements and the needs of the job.
- Assist in the gritting and snow clearance around the site.
- Ensure grounds, gardens, roads and paths are kept clean and tidy.
- Assist in the collection of litter and emptying of cigarette trays in smoking shelters.
- To assist with the cleansing / washing down of external and internal spillages to site roads, pathways and entrances.
- Undertake other such duties as deemed necessary by the needs of the service provided by the department.
- Carry out routine building work e.g. slabbing and bricklaying.
- Prioritise and arrange day-to-day workload, unless given a direct instruction.
- Carry re knowledge and experience with other members of the Estates Team.
- Assist in the development of other staff and Trainees.
- Be aware of the Trusts Health and Safety Policy, understand and apply it to all work that is undertaken.
- Take reasonable care of their own health and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions.
