  • Acute Medicine services are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 - Clinical Sister role within the Acute Medical Unit.
  • This is a 53 bedded assessment unit which provides safe, compassionate and comprehensive care for acute patients using an integrated team approach.
  • We have a comprehensive developmental plan for all of our staff which are able to rotate to develop themselves further with enhanced knowledge and skills.
  • Acute Medicine is ever expanding rapidly with new initiatives to ensure we deliver excellent patient care, and experience to all of our patients.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder is responsible for clinical leadership through effective monitoring and implementation of standards and evidenced based practice; ensuring patients receive safe, high-quality care. Co-ordinating the unit liaising with the capacity team for patient flow.
  • To provide direct management and facilitate learning and development within the nursing team.
  • Management of preceptor ship of newly qualified staff, return to nursing staff and the mentorship of nursing students and health care support workers.

Clinical

  • To take responsibility for the clinical leadership and direction of the nursing team.
  • To undertake and document a comprehensive, systematic, and accurate nursing assessment of the patient as appropriate.
  • To promote and deliver a high standard of nursing care based on best practice to maintain patient safety and provide an excellent patient experience.
