A 12 month secondment to support the clinical leadership in Endoscopy through effective monitoring and implementation of standards and evidenced based practice; ensuring patients receive safe, high-quality care.

The post holder will provide direct management and facilitate learning and development within the nursing team.

The post holder will effectively manage resources within their area and drive improvements based on evidence-based practice.

The post holder will respond to, identify, escalate, and make recommendations for changes within the clinical environment.

The post holder will hold expert knowledge and skills in the field of endoscopy services

To provide both clinical and non-clinical leadership to help in the management of the endoscopy unit.

Main duties of the job

  • Use highly developed specialist knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, working within a wide range of endoscopic procedures/guidelines to meet clinical needs of the patient and advise other members of staff accordingly.
  • Exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy, drawing upon highly specialist knowledge and experience to practice highly developed physical and professional skills of the highest order.
  • Working with the Senior Management team and take responsibility for the clinical leadership and direction of the endoscopy team
  • Undertakes and documents a comprehensive, systematic and accurate nursing assessment of the patient as appropriate
  • Deliver a high standard of nursing care based on best practice to maintain patient safety and provide a good patient experience.
  • To undertake clinical shifts in the endoscopy unit as required
  • Working within the NMC Guidelines and Trust Policies recognizing one's own abilities and limitations
  • To facilitate and build team working between nurses and multi-disciplinary team to effect high standards of care
  • Maintain a good standard of communication with the multi-disciplinary team and respect the confidentiality of patients, relatives and colleagues

  • To review staffing requirements using a proactive approach to retention and recruitment of staff
  • To initiate and prioritize modernization developments within the Service as part of the business/strategic planning process
  • Support the preparation and submission of data for the units annual JAG accreditation, utilize Operational management, Consultants and Matron for guidance.
  • Ensuring staffing levels within the area are adequate to provide safe and effective care delivery, maximising the resources that are available by competent duty rostering
  • Through effective negotiation and political awareness create an environment for partnership working and dissemination of information across multi-disciplinary teams
