We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Specialised Cardiac Healthcare Scientist / Clinical Scientist to join the cardiology team.

Developmental opportunities will be considered for applicants who do not meet the full criteria for the Band 6 post- the position will be offered to receive training and experience to enable them to gain the competencies to eventually fill a Band 6 Specialised Cardiac Healthcare Scientist / Clinical Scientist role, through both internal and external training.

Main duties of the job

An independent practitioner with the ability to perform, interpret and report on a broad range of cardiac procedures, working within the guidelines and sphere of professional practice in the delivery of cardiac procedures within the Physiologic Sciences Department.

Duties to be undertaken whilst maintaining a caring and compassionate environment.

Essential

  • Unsupervised in non-invasive procedures

Desirable

  • Experience in invasive procedures
  • Echocardiogram
  • Experience of undertaking training of junior members of staff.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent
  • Immediate Life Support

Desirable

  • Post graduate registration
  • Post graduate training cardiac procedures

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Able to work accurately to reasonable deadline
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to liaise and to develop working relationships with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to treat patients with respect and understanding
  • Ability to work methodically whilst under pressure

Personal Qualities

  • Strong Interpersonal skills and ability to form positive working relationships
  • Self-motivated and able to motivate others

  • Frequent requirement to sit in a restricted position during echocardiography procedures.( up to 30 minutes, 6 times per half day session)
