The George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust Radiology Department currently has a vacancy for an Interventional Radiology Operating Department Practitioner.

We are looking for a fully qualified and HCPC registered ODP to join a high performing Interventional Radiology service which is modernising and forward thinking in its approach to patient care and service delivery. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their career and skills within this imaging specialty, delivering the highest standards of care during diagnostic investigations and therapeutic interventions.

Main duties of the job

The position requires working in a small multidisciplinary team of Radiographers, Consultant Radiologists, Assistant Practitioners and Radiology Department Assistants. The role includes working as scrub assistant for sterile interventional procedures and as a circulating practitioner for recording patients' observations, administration of drugs, managing patient care and providing expertise in anaesthetics and post-operative recovery.

The role will involve working closely with the current IR team to provide highly specialised patient care for patients undergoingangiography, angioplasty, and other diagnostic and interventional procedures.

The successful candidate is also expected to participate in enhanced practice, with a Radiographer led PICC service which commenced in 2022, and other extended scope services planned.

Providing relevant data for audit may also be required, as will being responsible for ordering of routine and ad-hoc stock and undertaking audits within IR, presenting findings at the UEC governance meetings.The successful candidate will demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm and team working ability, as well as being able to establish and maintain good working relationships with the IR team and wider department, directorate and hospital. You will have good communication skills, be flexible and self-motivated.

Theprospective candidate will be working with a state-of-the-art Philips Azurion Gen 3, due for completion in June 2025.
