An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 nurse to lead the gynaecological outpatient team within the Women & Children's Service at GEH. We are a forward thinking, passionate and compassionate service providing a wide variety of care to women.

A key part of the team that delivers services such as Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy and the lead for nurse led clinics such as cervical screening and the early pregnancy assessment unit. As well as working with our cancer lead in supporting our patients on the two week wait pathway.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist nursing expertise, ensuring all staff are supported in theirpractice on day to day and ongoing basis. Use advanced decision making skills to utilise all available resources to deliver nursing care effectively and efficiently in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that Nursing and Clinical Pathways/Guidelines/Protocols areimplemented and maintained. Ensure good standards of practice in the department, through participation in effective quality assurance measures such as clinical audit programmes.
  • Manage and effectively support patients through the delivery of difficultnews.
  • Take responsibility for the duty rotas for the staff to provide effective and well balanced cover to meet with the requirements of the service and ensure the presence of suitably qualified and experienced nurses and support staff at all times. Develop new ways of working if workload requires this.

Patient Care
