Main duties of the job
- The post holder is responsible for clinical leadership through effective monitoring and implementation of standards and evidenced based practice; ensuring patients receive safe, high quality care.
- To provide a high standard of care rotating within the critical care unit and trust wide with critical care outreach team.
- To provide direct management and facilitate learning and development within the nursing team.
- As a member of the outreach team, provide expert clinical skills and support to the wards and departments as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Support the 24-hour acute pain management service, Management of preceptorship of newly qualified staff, return to nursing staff and the mentorship of nursing students and health care support workers.

- Take responsibility for the clinical leadership and direction of the critical care team
- Undertakes and documents a comprehensive, systematic and accurate nursing assessment of the patient as appropriate
- Deliver a high standard of care based on best practice to maintain patient safety and provide a good patient experience.
- Creates and utilizes opportunities to promote health and well-being of patients in their care
- To undertake clinical shifts within the outreach service, identify, assess and manage a caseload of patients who are deteriorating or who are at risk of deteriorating. Recommend interventions to optimise patients care, obtaining medical support as required. Support staff that are caring for patients awaiting transfer to a critical care bed.
- Review patients at ward level and respond to requests for support from nursing and medical staff.
