Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist Upper GI

Salary: £46,148 - £52,809 per annum (Dependant on experience)

Contract Type: Fixed Term (18 months)

Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

  • Manages caseload on an ongoing basis including making modifications within prescribed parameters reporting back to the Consultant.
  • Autonomously performs specialist nurse procedures in line with Trust protocols and NMC guidance.
  • Provides advice in relation to the care of individual or groups of patients.
  • Responsible for the effective management of allocated resources.
  • Responsible for procurement and maintenance of physical assets and supplies for the service.
  • Demonstrates best practice and relevant knowledge of the NHS and modernisation agenda, seeking to develop the service as part of the professional team.
  • Contributes to the development of the corporate nursing strategy ensuring local action plans produced, implemented and evaluated.
  • Represents the Trust at external events, networking with professional colleagues to maximise the opportunities of promoting the Trust and benchmarking practice with peers.
  • Involvement in Clinical Audit:
  • 24 our GP notification audit.
  • 25 Appropriateness & timeliness of urgent suspect cancer referrals. Assist in the gathering of information for ongoing audit projects.
  • Ensuring that all patients have a key worker.
  • Co-ordination of patient's pathway.
  • Monitoring of MDT standards in conjunction with MDT co-ordinator.
  • Implementing evidence-based practice.
  • Request and track relevant investigations post MDT once appropriately trained to do so.
  • Develop nursing services within the team.
