Job Title: Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist

Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week

Perm/Fixed Term: Permanent

Salary: £35,392-£42,618 per annum

Please note if you commence in post prior to October 2024, you will be paid in line with 2023/2024 agenda for change pay scales.

Main duties of the job

Work within the Colorectal Surgical Team and collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team to ensure best practice and optimal outcomes for patients, under the direction of the Lead Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Provide clinical expertise and education in regards Colorectal Surgery and nursing care to ensure evidence -based practice.

Support the development of the colorectal service and assist with the formation of guidelines and policies that will contribute to the strategic direction of the service.

  • Surgical experience which incorporates caring for patients who have undergone colorectal surgery
  • Proven interest in working within Colorectal team
  • 3 years post registration
  • Evidence of multi-disciplinary team working

Desirable

  • Experience of working as a colorectal CNS

Qualifications Professional Training

Essential

  • NMC registration
  • Degree level education or equivalent

Desirable

  • Post registration qualification in specialist area
  • Advanced communication course

Skills and Abilities

  • Provide specialist advice to patients/clients, carers, relatives in relation to condition
  • IT and word processing skills
  • Able to manage work autonomously
  • Knowledge of professional and NHS issues, and policy relating to specialist area
