To support all service areas within the Trust to receive and issue the correct goods, products or equipment purchased in a timely way through an effective Supply Chain service including receipts, distribution and Materials Management tasks.

Job responsibilities
Receives goods to the warehouse and ensures that these goods are handled safely and by appropriate means e.g. transfer of goods by a trolley/truck (if required), to the correct stores bin location and recording this in line with appropriate booking in procedures.
Unpacks and checks deliveries, identifying discrepancies, booking goods/products into the warehouse and booking goods out when they are delivered to wards and sites. This will require the use of the electronic stores system.
Plans workload to ensure all order requests are processed and goods delivered within set time scales, arranging and adjusting delivery and collection windows as required. Co-ordinates own activities and works effectively as part of a team.
May be required to allocate work to junior team members and monitor progress.

Moves, handles and stores goods and equipment in accordance with agreed stores procedures and in line with health and safety guidance.
Inputs data, processes orders and supports the booking out systems on other front facing electronic systems, e.g. NHS Supply Chain or equivalent. Enters data onto purchase ledger/ stock ordering system. This may include areas such as stores receipting/returns/Materials Management data on computerised systems. Utilises bar coded data technology where required.
Analyses data regarding stock levels, orders, deliveries, receipts, lost/damaged items, repairs or returns and maintains electronic systems on a computer.
Undertakes stock counts/audits/and a top up system on wards as part of the Materials Management function and identifies discrepancies for further investigation.
Follows agreed security processes for the stores building.
Supports the Procurement and Stores team in providing a comprehensive and timely resolution to purchasing related customer enquiries.
Provides and exchanges information with internal staff and external suppliers orally and in writing regarding deliveries, including delivery times and damaged goods, clearly and accurately.
Persuades ward or department staff to maximise cost effectiveness where there are conflicting priorities and to use appropriate procedures or paperwork.
Complies with the Trusts policies including the Trusts Standing Financial Instructions.
Operates within established stores policy/ procedures to achieve targets. Also contributes positively to system and service policy modernisation and development within the area and comments accordingly.
Supports implementation of the Department of Health initiatives such as NHS Procurement and Commercial Standards or equivalent.
Participates in work related surveys when required and as determined by the manager. Explores and benchmarks against other organisations and best practice.
Other requirements
The role will require the operation of computerised systems using standard basic key board skills. Periods of concentration are required i.e. to check requisitions and pick stock correctly and to check stock levels
The post holder will need to be able to deal with frequent interruptions and be able to move heavy cages and parcels e.g. furniture, boxes, clinical product boxes. Physical efforts include pushing related approved manual handling equipment, manoeuvring an electric truck, reaching to lift boxes appropriately.
There will be exposure to warehouse conditions which include dust, dirt, and the ward environment during delivery to wards. This will require transit work in all-weather types.
