Main duties of the job
Clinical responsibilities
- Organising and assisting with ward work and preoperative clerking
- Clerking of new patients and organising investigations
- Routine ward duties and rounds with Consultants and other medical staff
- To provide general surgical care for the Consultant's patients in consultation with the consultants and other medical staff and provide care for all patients when on call.
- Participate in appropriate pre-op assessment clinic.
Core responsibilities
- Communicate and work collaboratively with all members of the surgical team.
- Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients and relatives about all aspects of their clinical care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain legible and accurate documentation in the clinical records.
