Main duties of the job

Clinical responsibilities

  • Organising and assisting with ward work and preoperative clerking
  • Clerking of new patients and organising investigations
  • Routine ward duties and rounds with Consultants and other medical staff
  • To provide general surgical care for the Consultant's patients in consultation with the consultants and other medical staff and provide care for all patients when on call.
  • Participate in appropriate pre-op assessment clinic.

Core responsibilities

  • Communicate and work collaboratively with all members of the surgical team.
  • Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients and relatives about all aspects of their clinical care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain legible and accurate documentation in the clinical records.
