The Project Officer will work within the Finance & Information department to support the implementation of a range of projects designed to support growth and diversification of the organisation and deliver service improvements. Projects may be specific to the Trust or be linked to the Integrated Care Board (ICB) or wider health economy. The role will support designated Programme Managers, facilitate and monitor progress of any project under their control and manage their successful implementation, ensuring that projects are completed to the required standard and within specified constraints of time and cost. This will involve the production of plans and documentation through the project lifecycle, managing risks identified and ensuring all identified objectives are met.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the scoping, implementation and delivery of various projects within the portfolio of work managed by Finance and Information and new services designed to deliver service and process improvements.
  • Work closely with Finance Senior Leadership team and relevant Programme Manager(s) to provide updates and adherence to project processes and report on project status.
  • Working with relevant Programme Manager(s) across teams to secure financial and operational resource from different departments to embed new services and service improvement.
  • Provide support for the delivery and allocation of project tasks as appropriate, identifying risks, issues and dependencies, considering best practice and where necessary ensure agreed standards are consistently applied across projects.
  • Monitor project delivery by applying relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure projects are on target. Working with Programme Managers to ensure that KPIs are identified at the start of the project.
  • Ability to identify and analyse weaknesses in the project delivery and ability to resolve and communicate issues clearly, escalating concerns to minimise delays and support successful project delivery.
  • Preparation of associated project documentation and administration, including drafting terms of reference for the relevant project, coordinating meetings and agendas, minute taking, on-going action log management, risk logs and actions from meetings as well as the management of relevant project papers.

  • Experience of creating standard operating procedures, writing reports, analysing information and identifying issues in relation to targets and KPI's and advising corrective actions where required
  • Experience of working effectively to meet deadlines

Desirable

  • Knowledge of health service management, including change management.
  • Advanced specialist knowledge of project/programme management

Qualification(s) and Professional Training

Essential

  • GCSE 'O' Level standard for Maths and English or equivalent
  • Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience
  • A degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge & use of Microsoft Office packages, e.g. Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Desirable

  • Professional Project Manager qualifications (Prince2 Foundation or Practitioner) or willing to take up formal project management qualification
  • Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development.
