Main duties of the job

Job Purpose: To support the Information Services team in providing an accurate and efficient information service for the trust. The post holder is required to extract, analyse and report information to agreed deadlines under minimal supervision. To process and validate national data sets and investigate data quality issues. To provide support and cover for colleagues where necessary.

Communication & Relationship Skills To process commissioning data sets, statutory returns, and standard reports.

To investigate data quality issues. To deal with telephone enquiries and take appropriate action.

To discuss complex information requests and translate them into reporting requirements.

To ensure reporting is clear, concise and well presented so that the audience understands the message.

To liaise with other members of the department to ensure daily business outcomes are achieved.

Knowledge, Training & Experience To have good computer skills particularly with Microsoft Office products such as Access and Excel; knowledge of other applications such as SQL Server, and patient information systems.

To have knowledge of the NHS data dictionary and data definitions and how to apply them.

To receive informal training through mentorship and shadowing to learn new skills, increase knowledge and expand job portfolio.

To ensure a constant updating of skills including updating protocols and training. To understand patient and information flows.
